The day the Model A’s came to town…

Have you noticed a Model A anywhere? The main street of Boonah packed with cars and admirers.

The 22nd National Model A Ford Meet is currently being held at Ipswich (26th to 30th March). Today the Fassifern played host to these wonderful cars as they first traveled to Kalbar and then to Boonah.

I was thinking how wonderful it is to live in a place like Boonah where the town is prepared to close streets to allow these cars to parade through the centre of town. I’m fortunate to be on holidays so I got to see it. The town got into the spirit with many of the shops’ staff dressing in period costumes for the event.

If you are interested in some info on the Model A Ford, Wikipedia has an article on them. These cars were manufactured from 1928 through to 1931. Approximately 170 of them came to Boonah with many having Victorian and New South Wales registration stickers on them. The cars stayed in town for a few hours allowing locals to chat to the owners.
